This course is designed to be exciting, fun and informative. We will be covering the skills necessary to follow a lead climber up a multi-pitch ice climb safely. This will include route finding, climbing techniques for steep ice, belaying a lead climber, removing ice screws, rappelling and maximizing safety and efficiency when climbing with larger groups. We will climb Hitchcock Gulley(NEI rating:Grade 2-3), a classic dike/gulley that ascends the entire height of the southeast face. After climbing to the top of Hitchcock Gulley, we will descend back down the gulley - rappelling and glissading when possible.

It will also be your responsibility to have plenty of water, juice or fluids in order to stay well hydrated. It is highly recommended that all participants come prepared with lunch or snacks to keep your energy level at a maximum. We will be stopping on our return to Massachusetts for a quick dinner - so it will be important to bring a little extra money for this reason.
